Farms
AgResearch currently operates 13 farms throughout New Zealand, providing the company with the ability to undertake scientific work such as reproduction, parasitology, genomics, plant breeding, animal behaviour, immunology and disease management.
The farms, which employ 78 staff and are spread from Waikato to Southland, are predominantly sheep and beef but also include two dairy farms, a deer unit and a mixed cropping unit. Farm land type varies from intensive flats through to steep hill.
They provide services predominantly to AgResearch scientists, although external clients such as Livestock Improvement Corporation, Fonterra, DairyNZ and Plant and Food are also catered for.
