Business Group Team Leader Agriculture & Environment
Gavin joined the Business group from AgResearch science where he was platform leader for the Agricultural Systems Group. He has 37 years experience in agricultural systems research and development and taking science out to agribusiness in New Zealand and overseas. He works most closely with the Agriculture & Environment Group. A few of the particularly outstanding initiatives he is involved in include OVERSEER Nutrient Management Model, ContainerScan, EnCoate and Farmax. He is based at the Ruakura campus, in Hamilton.

Business Group Team Leader Applied Biotechnologies
Richard has been with AgResearch for 12 years, working in technology transfer across a wide range of science groups, more recently focussing on plant genetics. He also has many years experience in IP capture and licensing. He works most closely with the Applied Biotechnologies Group. Richard is on the Board of Grasslands Innovation, a Joint Venture between Grasslanz and PGG-Wrightson and on the Board of EnCoate. Another initiative he is involved in is PhytaGro. He is based at the Grasslands campus, in Palmerston North.

Business Group Team Leader Food & Textiles
Margot has been with AgResearch since 2000, after a period with AgResearch MIRINZ, and has experience in commercialising science in the food technology and processing areas. She works most closely with the Food & Textiles Group, with some of the particularly exciting initiatives she is working on including INVOCO and Natural Easy Care (NEC) fabric made from wool. As well as extensive strategic experience, Margot has broad management and scientific food industry expertise and has specialised in meat production and processing technologies. She is a Fellow and Past President of the New Zealand Institute of Food Science and Technology, and is a director for Ultrafine Merino Ltd, DEEResearch Ltd and the Meat Biologics Consortium. Margot is based at our Ruakura campus in Hamilton.

General Manager Business Group
Ian's responsibilities include IP management and commercialisation. He has a PhD in organic chemistry from University of Auckland, and was a Research Fellow at Cambridge and a Senior Research Leader with a large German agrichemicals company. He has been with AgResearch since 1994 and was General Manager for Intellectual Property with Celentis, the former commercial arm of AgResearch. He then became the General Manager for the newly formed Commercial group (now Business group) in 2004.
