AgResearch seed collectors in Western Siberia
March 28, 2017
Did you know that almost all of New Zealand’s important pasture plants are native to other countries?
That is why AgResearch’s seed collectors travel to places like Western Siberia collecting seeds to adapt to our specific New Zealand conditions. Doing this protects NZ’s export economy by providing a foundation for plant breeding and conservation, and tackles issues including new pests and climate change.
We do this with the help of others, including N.I.Vavilov Institute of Plant Genetic Resources (VIR) and Altai State University.
