Dr Simon Lovatt, Executive Officer, is presented with a token gift from the Sebrae Technical Mission to New Zealand who were hosted at Ruakura in 2010.

We host groups of community, pastoral sector, industry, Government and international visitors on our campuses. This is to develop significant relationships and research collaborations as well as enhancing the understanding and appreciation of our research and initiatives.

Korea Delegation

Representatives of the Korean Rural Community Corporation. Sung-kyui University, the National Agriculture Federation and the Foundation of Agri Tech Commecialisation and Transfer were hosted by Dr Simon Lovatt, Business Operations Manager, at the Ruakura Research Centre. The delegation was especially interested in developing a mutually beneficial relationship that would allow the free flow of scientific research to assist Korea in improving its pastoral production.

The Argentine Undersecretary for Agriculture, Oscar Solis, was hosted at the Ruakura Research Centre by Dr Simon Lovatt, Business Operations Manager and Dr Bram De Vos, Section Manager Climate, Land & Environment. The Undersecretary was accompanied by NZ Trade and Enterprise Waikato Sector Manager Tina Wood. Their discussions centred around pastoral research links with Argentina.

China Delegation at Tokanui

A delegation from the equivalent of MAF in China was hosted at the Tokanui Dairy Farm and presentations were made on pastures by Grant Rennie, and on the epigenetic research programme managed by Dr Kuljeet Singh. 

Leningrad region Russia Delegation

An eight person delegation from the Leningrad region visited AgResearch Ruakura on December 3. The delegation received an overview of the organisation and presentations by Dr Warren King on pasture management and on effluent management by Dr Mark Shepherd before being given a tour of the containment facility at Ruakura.

Santa Catarina State Secretary for Agriculture and a group of 28 officials from Sebrae in Brazil were hosted in Hamilton. They were given presentations led by Dr Simon Lovatt, Dr Warren King and Dr Marlon Dos Reis. This technical mission to New Zealand was led by Professor Tony Zwart, Emeritus Professor from Lincoln University.

A delegation of Australian Beef Farmers were hosted at Ruakura. Attendees were given a presentation on pasture persistence by Dr Warren King and on new meat research (IFR testing for tenderness) by Dr Katja Rosenvold (MIRINZ).

Bahia Brazil Delegation

This delegation was led by His Excellency Jacques Wagner the Governor of Bahia State and 11 agribusiness delegates. The hosting was held at the National Fieldays Conference suites at Mystery Creek. An introduction and overview was provided by Dr Simon Lovatt with supporting presentations by Dr Marlon Dos Reis and Dr David Wells.
