Research interests & activities

I am a ‘Senior Scientist’ in the ‘Food & Bio-based Products Group based at Lincoln. I have a BScTech degree in Textile Technology (majoring in textile chemistry and polymer technology). I received a PhD in Textile Technology in 1999 from the University of Manchester supported by a prestigious British Commonwealth Scholarship. After a two-years spell as an Assistant Professor (Polymer Engineering) at Yamagata University (Japan) and 3 years at WRONZ as a Biopolymer Scientist, I have been working at AgResearch for the last nine years. My research areas are as follows:

(1) Unconventional textile dyeing and printing. (2) Fire retarding/antibacterial/ antistatic textiles and polymers. (3) Sustainable and green processing of textiles. (4) Polymer processing and polymeric packaging. (5) Polymeric ceramic fibres (e.g. carbon fiber). (6) Drinking/wasteweater treatment.
