Karin joined AgResearch in 2009 and now leads the team of Stakeholder Relationship Managers interacting with AgResearch’s clients and stakeholders across the agri-sector. Her own stakeholder interactions are primarily within the on-farm production livestock sector (Meat & Fibre) where she facilitates science & industry interactions and is involved in project scoping and contract negotiation. Karin assists with intellectual property input and support and also provides a commercial perspective for existing and emerging capabilities/technologies.
Karin spent a number of years in research both in New Zealand and as a research scientist at the Barbraham Institute and the University of Cambridge, UK, before moving into roles in both the public and private sectors. While in the UK, Karin managed a large EU funded research programme, managed and consulted on intellectual property and technology transfer before moving back to NZ and continuing in the business development and technology transfer areas but with an agricultural focus. Karin has expertise in client management, business development, technology and intellectual property management, and contract negotiation.
Karin has Bachelor and Master of Science degrees from Waikato University, and a PhD and MBA from the University of Nottingham, UK. She is a UK Sainsbury Management Fellow.
