The Farm Systems – North team, based at Ruakura, seeks to improve farm performance by understanding the impact of new farm technologies and operating requirements, such as animal welfare, on production and quality outputs.  The team applies a wide array of disciplines and innovative technologies including farm systems modelling, animal behaviour and physiology and remote monitoring in order to provide integrated on-farm solutions. Research is also undertaken in a range of areas, including pasture performance, animal performance, animal behaviour and welfare as well as farm environmental and management issues. Extension activities in these areas are undertaken in close collaboration with stakeholders.
