Dr. Trevor Stuthridge was appointed as Research Director in May 2019.
Trevor brings extensive international executive and governance experience in science, innovation and technology commercialisation organisations.
Trevor recently served as Executive Vice President for FPInnovations – the world’s largest not-for-profit forestry sector research organization – where he led R&D operations and staff across 3 campuses and was responsible for business development, organizational strategy, and executive level engagement with industry, federal and provincial governments, academia and indigenous communities. In addition to his operational duties, Trevor also led change programs to improve interdisciplinary collaboration and to drive innovation, including creating a pan-Canadian bioeconomy academic network, project concepts for digitalization of the natural resources sectors, and putting in place investment strategies for bio-based product opportunities.
Prior to moving to Canada in 2014, Trevor was the General Manager of Sustainable Design at New Zealand’s forestry-focussed Crown Research Institute, Scion.
He is an ICD.D accredited director and has served as Chair/Director for 10 Boards and as strategic advisor for 12 industry/academic research consortia since 2010. He is also an Adjunct Professor at University of British Columbia and University of Toronto.
