Our Commercialisation Team is responsible for commercialising AgResearch’s intellectual property portfolio, getting our science and technology to a minimal viable product (MVP) status and taking key technology to market.

Commercialising Technology

AgResearch works with a range of public and private partners to commercialise technology both in New Zealand and in global markets.

Key activities carried out by our Commercialisation Team include:

Identifying innovative technologies within AgResearch for commercialisation
Building a pipeline of commercialisation opportunities
Protecting intellectual property (IP) through formulating appropriate strategies, patents and commercial agreements
Working with partners to take technology to market to solve relevant industry problems
Securing support from KiwiNet for commercialisation
Entering into commercial agreements with partners

Patents and License Management

AgResearch currently manages over 45 patent families with over 175 active patents. In addition, we manage various license agreements.

Powerful Collaborations

MitAgator Systems Tool

MitAgator is environmental software that helps farmers manage water quality and the impacts of contaminants. Based on more than 10 years of AgResearch science, the MitAgator tool is now owned and operated by Ballance Agri-Nutrients.
