Rich McDowell is a leader on the impacts of land use on water quality and has an interest in providing options and tools to mitigating contaminant losses from land to water while maintaining profitable farming enterprises. His work has informed and been cited in >100 industry guidelines and government policy documents in NZ and overseas. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of NZ, the NZ and British Societies of Soil Science, and recipient of the Hutton Medal from the Royal Society.
