I gained a MSc and subsequently PhD in genetics through the University of Otago, work which spanned from developing a genetic screen for production traits in salmon through to investigating epigenetic mechanisms in sheep. My current research is an extension of my tertiary education and lies at the intersection of molecular genetics, epigenetics, bioinformatics, and the implementation of genomic tools within the livestock and aquaculture industries to drive genetic gain.
