I was born in High Wycombe in the UK, went to university in Durham; degree (Zoology) and PhD (Entomology). I came to NZ in 1977 for a post-doc position with MAF at Invermay. I was then appointed as a scientist working on pest management, especially in tussock grassland. Emphasis of current work is risk assessment for biological control in the Better Border Biosecurity Program (B3). I have a 0.1FTE position at Otago University where I mostly co-supervise post-graduate students.
