My current research involves the analysis of the human gut microbiome, and how diet and health factors interact with the bacteria in the gut.

Research questions I am interested in: How can the investigation of microbial DNA and RNA help us understand the role of microbes in the environment, the human body, or biotechnological applications, and the processes they are involved in? How does human impact affect microbial activity and thus influence microbial habitats on a local and global scale?
