I call myself a an environmental microbiologist with a focus on water quality impacts. I am interested in how disease causing and faecal indicator bacteria survive and spread in the environment and get into water where they can make people sick when swimming or gathering food from rivers. I earned my PhD from Otago University in 2006 investigating E. coli transport from cow faeces through buffer strips. When not working I enjoy mountain biking, running, water skiing and fixing things.
